Blogger Support for the Release of Jill Carroll

Standard

This is one of those times when I don’t have words to do it justice. Jill Carroll is the reporter who was kidnapped a couple of weeks ago. I found out about blogging our support for her release through Balls and Walnuts, who got it from Blue Gal.

If you pray, please pray for her safe release.

One thing that is pretty impressive, and probably under-reported is the amount of Muslim support for her release. Jill has written numerous articles about the effect of the war on Iraqi citizens. They give a picture of the humanity of the Iraqi people that is all to easy to forget.

Updates on Jill Carroll are here.

Please, please take the time to follow these links. My heart breaks to see someone’s child in danger, even adult children. I wish I could do more. A few words on a blog and prayers for her safe return feel so insignificant, but it’s all I have to offer.

I hope that God is giving Jill and her family a sense of peace, and some knowledge of the outcry for her release.

Bring her back to us unharmed, Father.

About Shelbi

Work-at-home wife, mom of three kids, and caregiver for my brother, who has Cerebral Palsy. Never a dull moment, in other words. No idea how much I'll post, since I'm super busy these days, but maybe I'll get over here once in a while.

  1. Good Evening Ms. Shelbi —

I’m hoping you check back here some time soon. I need you (or your comment section here) to help me communicate w/ “Blue Gal.”

I’ve “tabbed” Balls & Walnuts, Shelblog & Blue Gal together as a kind of “drop in, check out what’s been written lately, & maybe leave a comment” spot I try to get to every evening, if possible.

Anyhoo, I wanted to leave a comment over at “Blue Gal’s,” but the best I can tell is that only bloggers are welcome to comment there. It says “no anonymous” comments allowed, but there seems to be no provision for us “others.”

Maybe there’s another “trick” I don’t know, but it appears that she’s essentially claimed she had 529 or so visitors, courtesy of “C & L’s” mention a couple of days ago, but only 2 or 3 left a comment. I can see why.

You suppose you or one of your other two regular visitors could shed some illumiination? Thanks to whomever.

I do hope you’re starting to feel a lot better.

  2. Hey ROF. Yep, a lot of us bloggers do not allow anonymous comments. This prevents, pardon my French, assholes from posting stupid comments. That is probably why, as you say, there were so few comments after the C&L hit. I’ll keep that in mind and perhaps change my settings for a couple days when I know C&L is gonna pick my post up.

You can still post “anonymously” just not without a Blogger login, which is free. Just create an account with them and call yourself “Rof”. No one will know who you are (just like Blue Gal).

Click on “Blogger” at the top of this or any other blogspot blog to join us.

  3. Good Evening, Ms. Shelbi, & you as well, Ms. blue gal —

I continue to learn every day a little bit more about this “blogworld.” Thank you, blue gal, for coming back; I suspected you would & I appreciate your suggestion.

I have to chuckle a little at the concept. I’m to join “Blogger” anonymously, so I can post comments at sites that don’t want anonymous comments posted. I suppose the reasoning is that the extra “hurdle” helps prevent “drive by” cheap shots?

As I’ve spread my tentacles out in the “blogosphere,” I’ve found I’ve had to start keeping a “log” to record all the various registrations, etc. As it is, I’m beginning to get a feel for the type of blogger(s) w/ whom I enjoy interacting. One of these days, the rampant “exploring” has to stop, but the sensation of expectation that the next blog will be even better, or whatever, is hard to put aside.

Enough. Once again, bg, thank you.

    Ms. Shelbi —

I can certainly empathize w/ your mother as she deals w/ a “different person” than the one who was once her mother. Mrs. ROF’s mother has also started sinking into that dark abyss.

  4. Blue Gal,
    Thanks for stopping by!

    Doug,
No problem with the link, I’m always stealing yours, so I’m glad you found something useful!

    ROF,
The Great Blog-O-Sphere is a strange and wonderful [and addictive!] thing, isn’t it? I’m honored that you’ve added me to your ‘log of blogs.’

Thanks for commenting, everybody, I really appreciate it.
