Oh Dear.

Standard

Well, if you didn’t know by now, I live in Missouri, and the weather forecast is calling for a massive ice storm here, starting tonight and going into tomorrow.  That’s all fine and good, but they’re saying the accumulation could be over an inch of ice.

That could be bad for the power in town.  We have a gas stove and a gas water heater, so we’ll have food and hot water [hopefully] but the possibility of a power outage, if indeed we do end up with that much ice, is pretty good.

So if you don’t hear from me for a few days, either via the blog or e-mail, don’t take it personally, okay?  And let’s just pray that this storm has a lot less bite than the weather people think it will.

About Shelbi

Work-at-home wife, mom of three kids, and caregiver for my brother, who has Cerebral Palsy. Never a dull moment, in other words. No idea how much I'll post, since I'm super busy these days, but maybe I'll get over here once in a while.

  1. Go rent Ice Age before you get housebound. Or, if you’re in a bloodthirsty mood, Ice Harvest. Batten down the hatches, brew up some mulled wine, light a fire in the fireplace. Make your hubs call in sick — it’ll be too cold for the perps to do crimes anyway.

  2. Heh, if only we had a fireplace! And some wine.

I did send Steve to the store for supplies, though.

He seems to think he’s going to work tomorrow. You’d think he was a freakin’ mail man or something!

It’s icing like crazy right now, but we’re all inside and safe, and we’re going to be here for a while!
    😛

  3. We’re further south than you–closer to Branson–so we got the worst of it yesterday. The monsters went to school two hours late, but the roads weren’t bad and we never lost power. My sister lives in Joplin, though, and she’s been out of power for days. My Dad lives about 1 1/2 hours north of here and he’s out of power too. Hang in there!! I hope it won’t be as bad as the big ice storm back in January. We were out of power for a week…. Stay safe and warm!

  4. A lot of people have lost power here. Ours is still on, obviously, but who knows for how long.

Steve went to work, and has been answering calls and staying busy. We just got cut off on the cell phone, so I’m hoping he calls me back in a minute.
